The Guangzhou Airport Terminal 2 Office Building Project is a core supporting facility of Terminal 2 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, serving critical functions including airport operations management, command and control, and administrative offices. The project encompasses key areas such as the Airport Operations Center (AOC), Security Command Center (SCC), and Information Technology Center (ITC), making it the "nerve center" that ensures the airport's efficient and safe operation.
The project features an extremely complex electromechanical system, covering dozens of specialized systems including fire protection, water supply and drainage, HVAC, smoke exhaust, and power supply. With densely distributed pipelines and high-value equipment, traditional load-bearing supports can only handle vertical loads and are incapable of effectively resisting horizontal forces generated during earthquakes. In the event of an earthquake, risks such as pipeline detachment, equipment overturning, and system failure would severely threaten airport operations and personnel safety.
To address this critical challenge, the project has fully implemented a seismic bracing system for electromechanical equipment. Its core function is to scientifically transfer seismic horizontal forces to the main building structure, ensuring that pipelines and equipment remain stable during earthquakes. In strict compliance with applicable codes, seismic supports have been installed for fire protection pipelines, smoke exhaust ducts, and critical equipment in machinery rooms.
The seismic bracing system provides multiple layers of safety protection for this project: first, it safeguards emergency functions by ensuring that fire protection and communication systems remain operational after an earthquake, buying precious time for evacuation and rescue; second, it prevents secondary disasters by eliminating risks of fire or electric shock caused by falling pipelines; and third, it protects core control equipment in the AOC and ITC, maintaining the airport's command system integrity. The seismic bracing system has become an indispensable safety lifeline for this project.
